Ryan Guthrie
Alpine DEV TeamBiography
How did you get your start in this career field? I was looking for work when I moved to Jackson 8 winters ago and I love skiing, so I figured I would apply for a job at JHMR as a ski instructor.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today? Once I started working as a ski instructor, I knew immediately it was something that I really enjoyed doing and wanted to continue to do. I knew that I need to train to get better at the job, and knew it was important to go through the certification process. Through that process, my skiing improved significantly and my approach to teaching skiing became much more clear. That process led me to want to share that with other instructors.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? Flying a plane.
What surprised you most about working in this industry? The impact that our work has on our guests. We have the ability to make lifetime memories for people, and that is pretty special.
What lesson are you most grateful for learning? I am grateful to have learned patience. Things worth doing take time.
Please list your hidden talent(s): I’m pretty good arm wrestler.
