Biography
How did you get your start in this career field? After my family had hit hard times and became unhoused, my Aunt Lorie took me in. She was a Ski Instructor in Big Bear and told me that I would be great at that job. I thought she was insane due to my previous skiing experience being 2 hours! Somehow, I was hired and through a memorable “Crash Course In Skiing” lesson with Lorie the day before, I was able to scrape by the ski assessment test and start my journey teaching skiing!
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today? The people you meet and the connections you build while being in a beautiful outdoor environment were enough to get me hooked! It was impactful instructing internationally and in 3 different PSIA divisions. I got to meet and learn from all different types of Ski Instructors. It really showed me what is possible with this job and how I want to shape myself as an instructor.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? I really want to get into bikepacking!
What surprised you most about working in this industry? None of it “gets old”. Our job is so dynamic and fun that every day is something to look forward to.
What lesson are you most grateful for learning? Taking time to reflect and having appreciation for yourself and all that you have already achieved!
Please list your hidden talent(s): I love to knit!
