Biography
How did you get your start in this career field? I began my career in 2013 at Stowe Mountain Resort teaching kids groups and seasonal programs. After two seasons there I began traveling to Chile to work an additional season at Ski Portillo.
What inspired you to pursue the career you have today? I left an unfulfilling job and spent a month riding my bike from Seattle to San Diego with two friends. Over the course of the month I realized I wanted to spend my time outside experiencing the natural world, and not just on my days off. By the end of the trip I had an interview at Stowe and never looked back.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? Backflip on skis.
What surprised you most about working in this industry? The diversity of professional and educational background represented in ski schools everywhere. I have been fortunate to work alongside so many impressive and fascinating individuals.
What lesson are you most grateful for learning? Working in the East I got to ski a lot of great snow, but I also learned to find joy in this sport regardless of what Mother Nature was inclined to deliver. Every day on skis can be an amazing day with a bit of creativity and the right attitude.
Please list your hidden talent(s): I can juggle snowballs, speak two languages well and another two poorly, and open a beer bottle with pretty much any object at hand.
