Scholarships

The Intermountain Division has several scholarship opportunities available each year for members and member schools to pursue education and professional goals. These scholarships are funded primarily from the silent auction at Spring Clinic and donations to the Education Fund.

To apply for the General Education Scholarships or Mark Nakada Scholarships or Children’s Specialist Education, please click on the name of the scholarship below to open the Google Form to complete your scholarship application.

General Education Scholarships provide a one-day educational clinic at no cost or a credit of a comparable amount towards a longer educational clinic or exam.  

Mark Nakada Memorial Scholarships for Children’s Specialist Education provide funding for Children’s Specialist webinars, Children’s Specialist clinics or a credit of comparable amount towards one day of a Children’s Specialist assessment.

Heather Dumas Women’s Summit Scholarship provides funding for the Women’s Summit.

Supporting Documentation for Scholarship Application  Please upload Letter of Endorsement and Goal and Intention.

Letters of endorsement are encouraged to be 50 words or less, on resort letterhead, typed and signed by said manager, trainer, or supervisor. Letters of endorsement should address whether the applicant has encountered any specific hardships in their pursuit of training (financial setbacks, injury, unsuccessful assessments etc.) and why you, as their supervisor, manager, or trainer, feel that they would benefit from a scholarship award.

Goal and Intention.  Please upload a separate letter of request for a scholarship. The letter should be no more than one page typed, and should address the following questions: 1) What are some of your personal and professional goals in relation to snowsports and snowsports teaching? 2) How will a scholarship from PSIA-I/AASI-I help you, your snowsport school/area and your resort guests? 3) Have you experienced any hardship or setback in your pursuit of PSIA/ASSI training or education? 4) What do you feel should qualify someone for scholarship support and by that measure, why do you feel you are a good candidate to receive an award?

For the scholarships above there are two scholarship deadlines each winter.  For the 2024-25 season, scholarship applications are due Dercember 16, 2024. Submit your application along with a letter of endorsement to  mailto:jholdorf@psia-i.org?subject=IM Scholarship.

IM Small Schools Scholarships offer training opportunities for the trainers and instructors at our smaller schools. These may be multi-school webinars or on-location clinics with targeted topics. This scholarship can be applied for by any school that meets these 3 requirements: 

1: Do not have an active ed staff member in the discipline for which they apply for outreach.

2: Offer lessons in the requested discipline to the public. 

3: Have used all their existing outreach opportunities.

For the 2024/25 season, the deadline for the IM Small Schools Scholarship application is October 1st 

Intermountain Division also facilitates the Brett A. Chamberlain Memorial Scholarship, which provides for one skier and one snowboarder to attend the PSIA-AASI National Academy. In 2024 this will be at Big Sky, MT in April. The deadline for this application is December 3, 2024.
