Ron LeMaster coming to IMD!
We are thrilled to announce that author and clinician Ron LeMaster will present "Skiing from the Snow Up: Technique, Tactics and Biomechanics,"
a series of three talks on the what, why, and how of skiing that will connect what you feel when you ski, what you do and say when you teach,
and the basic mechanics of skiing. You can expect to come away with a better understanding of how the snow, our equipment, and our bodies
work together to create the experience of skiing. That understanding will help you improve as a skier and instructor, and if you're pursuing PSIA certification,
give you a leg up on the process. The three talks cover:
- Skiing Mechanics: How skis work with the snow to shape turns and control speed, and important aspects of turn dynamics.
- Technique: How we use our bodies to balance against our skis and manipulate them to produce the turns we want.
- Tactical Applications: Reading the mountain, deciding what you want to do, and assembling the movements in real time to create the turns to make it happen.
Each session stands on its own and, while some material in earlier talks will be referenced in later ones, none is a hard prerequisite for the others.
Ron will present January 8-10 from 6-8 pm in Park City and Snowbird. Event signup will be available on psia-i.org soon.
Alpine Exam Changes
We have made a few changes to the single day assessment format for both the Alpine L2 and L3 Ski exams.
Our goal is to provide you with a better exam-day experience. Candidates in groups of eight or fewer will work with two examiners.
The examiners will determine 1-3 highlighted tasks to assess. Candidates in groups of 9-12 will work with three examiners in two subgroups.
They will perform two highlighted tasks. The two-day coached format has not changed; candidates perform five highlighted tasks.
More details about these changes are available on our website using these links for
Level 2
