Dev Teams

Choose your Discipline

The Intermountain Dev Team is the process through which PSIA-AASI Intermountain hires new Ed Staff.

Alpine Process

Phase 1 Selection

  • Step 1: L3 Certified Instructor, member of Intermountain and  CS1 or FS1 REQUIRED
  • Step 2: Attend Alpine Dev Team Prep Event (optional, but encouraged)
  • Step 3: Attend the Alpine DEV Team Selection (selection is based on Technical, Teaching, and People Skills using criteria from the Alpine L3 Standards)
  • Step 4: Successful candidates will be invited to join the Alpine Dev Team for a 2-year term

Phase 2 Preparation

  • Step 1: Develop an individual plan with the Alpine Dev Team Manager and identify/work with a mentor from the Intermountain Alpine Education Staff 
  • Step 2: Attend ALL Education Staff/Dev Team Trainings during each the season
  • Step 3: Attend a minimum of 7 days as a shadow per season and complete an audit report for each
  • Step 4: Continuously identify areas for further development and be in clear communication with the Alpine Dev Team Manager 

Phase 3 Hiring

  • Step 1: Submit a formal application for the role of Education Staff Member (resume, letter of intent, mentor letter of recommendation)
  • Step 2: Meet with the Alpine Team Manager to identify promotion readiness
  • Step 3:  Attend the Alpine Promotion event for an evaluation of readiness for the job
  • Step 4:  Complete necessary onboarding requirments for hiring to Alpine Education Staff

Snowboard Process

Phase 1 Selection

  • Step 1: L3 certified instructor and current Region Member, CS1 OR FS1 required to attend
  • Step 2: Attend Snowboard Dev Team Prep Clinic 
  • Step 3: Attend Snowboard Dev Team selection day
  • Step 4: Successful candidates will be invited to join the Snowboard Dev Team

Phase 2 Preparation

  • Step 1: Develop on individual plan with a Snowboard Discipline Manager and identify/work with a mentor from the Intermountain Ed Staff
  • Step 2: Attend ALL Education Staff/DEV Team Trainings during each the season
  • Step 3: Attend a minimum of 6 events as a shadow  and complete an audit report for each 
  • Step 4: Complete FS1 and CS1 (both required for promotion)

Phase 3 Hiring

  • Step 1: Submit a formal application for the role of Education Staff Member (resume, letter of intent, mentor letter of recommendation)
  • Step 2: Attend and evaluation with Snowboard Manager to identify promotion readiness
  • Step 3: Promote to IM Ed staff

Children’s Process

Current Ed Staff with interest in becoming a CS Staff member should reach out to the CS Team manager

Phase 1 Selection

  • Step 1: L3 certified instructor and current Region Member, CS2 required to attend.
  • Step 2: Attend Alpine or Snowboard Dev Team selection day in primary discipline
  • Step 3: Selection will be based on Technical, Teaching and People Skills and expressed interest in the CS Dev Team
  • Step 4: Successful candidates will be invted to join the CS Dev Team

Phase 2 Preparation

  • Step 1: Develop an individual plan with the Team Manager and identify/work with a mentor from the Intermountain CS Education Staff 
  • Step 2: Attend ALL CS Education Staff/Dev Team Trainings during each the season
  • Step 3: Attend a minimum of 4 events as a shadow per season and complete an audit report for each event attended
  • Step 4: The CS Dev Team has a Two Season Term Limit. Those needing additional time will be required to attend the Selection Event to resume the process

Phase 3 Hiring

  • Step 1: Submit a formal application for the role of Education Staff Member (resume, letter of intent, mentor letter of recommendation)
  • Step 2: Attend the CS Promotion Event for an evaluation of readiness for the job
  • Step 3:  Those who are successful at the Promotion event join IM staff.
