Biography

How did you get your start in this career field? My parents were ski instructors so I grew up in the industry.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today? Tried many other things and always came back to skiing.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? Bike packing out of country.

What surprised you most about working in this industry? How hard it is to leave!

What lesson are you most grateful for learning? That there is always so much more to learn!

How did you get your start in this career field? Teaching PE ski classes in college.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today? Helping others realize their dreams in skiing and teaching.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? Kiteboarding.

What surprised you most about working in this industry? That I could actually make a career of it.

What lesson are you most grateful for learning? Fail, fail, fail to succeed.

Biography

I started cross country skiing as a fifth grader just outside Syracuse, New York. I graduated from Cortland State in 1990 with a Bachelor’s in Physical Education, and moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1992. I began my ski teaching career with the Pocatello Parks and Recreation Program, and have taught cross country, telemark, and alpine skiing at the Mink Creek Nordic Center, Pebble Creek, Grand Targhee, and Jackson Hole. I have also coached junior cross country ski racing, and worked in ski retail. My other pursuits include almost anything outdoors and active, along with reading/writing, music, and spending time with family/friends.

Why do you work in the ski industry? Skiing changed my life and I enjoy helping others find enjoyment in the mountains and stretch their boundaries

What else do you do besides skiing/snowboarding? I spend a lot of time riding and maintaining a variety of bicycles; hobby robotics/electronics; I’m the Transportation Technology Manager for Park City Municipal.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why? Well anyone that is a passionate deep thinker with a sense of humor, so will go with Roger Penrose – Nobel Prize in physics – mathematician/philosopher. has posited there is no free will with both fervor and humor.
